EXTREME HAPPINESS
‘I’m glad to see you buying yarns now. Yarns are so much better than books!’ exclaimed my son as I brought my newly delivered package into the car. He seemed quite excited, as if now I will somehow be too distracted to buy books to read. Not a chance!
The package had a warning sticker on it: ‘Opening this package will cause extreme happiness’. I laughed and acknowledged how true that is as I ripped into the package as soon as we walked into our home.
The colours were lovely and vibrant. The yarn much thinner than I had worked with in the past for my Etsy shop. But now the items I have planned are no longer for newborns to be used as props for photographers. I would now be creating items for adults. Scarves, cowls, and hats for now. Other ideas are still brewing. More yarns are on the way and more are still needing to be ordered for other projects.
After having been away from the knitting needles for many years, it feels good to do something which brought me extreme happiness when I first started my business 13 years ago. Something which sparked that creativity within. Something that made me feel alive.
Though many years have passed, the desire is still there for something worth your time. I love knitting and I love reading. There is room for both. Don’t worry my son, I will still find time to get you more books.
