MAKE IT HAPPEN
It has arrived. The cold. Sharp and biting as I opened the balcony door this morning. The lowest temperature it has been in a very long time, at 5 degrees Celsius.
We are not prepared for this kind of weather, but we somehow make do. I watched as my son layered a hoodie over a sweater and braved the cold as he walked to school. Refusing to wear my old grey winter coat. We do not have much need for coats here in Austin, but soon he will have to start wearing one.
Like many things in life, we need to be willing to make things work with what we have. Changing plans when something unexpected comes along. Such as when a major part of the trip we had planned turns out to require us to rethink other parts and make adjustments the best we can. It’s not always convenient or desirable, but somehow you need to make things work. Especially if someone is depending on you to make it happen.
‘Can u try’, my son asked when I told him of the change.
‘I’m trying…’, I texted back.
As I waited for the calendar update for the event that I had planned for him, I wasn’t expecting to have to rebook a flight and all of the accommodations. And to completely change the course of our itinerary. But I will be working on this until I find the best solution.
It’s not always possible to plan every moment of our lives, but as long as we are flexible and willing to try new ways of dealing with unexpected things that come our way, we can make it happen.
