EXPECT NOTHING
And then, overnight, it rained.
The thunder cracked loudly, jolting me awake from my sleep at some point during the night. Lightning and the beautiful sounds of rain followed shortly thereafter.
All this time I had been wanting the weather to change. Wanting it to rain. Then, as soon as I gave up on that happening and have resolved to live an endless summer, mother nature surprised me.
As in life, when we keep wishing for something to happen, it won’t. Out of spite, it seems, but more for us to have time to learn the lessons we are meant to learn. And if it takes us a long time to learn them, we will be repeating the same experiences until we learn our lessons.
When we force the issue on certain things, they will more than likely turn on us. But as soon as we start to expect nothing, something happens. It takes much patience. Many nights of us sitting alone with our thoughts. But when we least expect it, the path we are to take will appear.
